The Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus transmitted through bodily fluids (i.e. blood, semen, pre-ejaculate, and vaginal fluids) exchanged during sexual activity, injection drug use, breastfeeding and child birth. The advent of antiretroviral treatments has made living with HIV a chronic manageable disease.
