PTCAP: Anxiety, Mood and Suicide

This module provides assessments, diagnostic criteria, and management strategies for Anxiety, mood/depression, and suicide.

The module also describes broad-based, brief interventions that can provide immediate relief and optimism for those affected by anxiety, mood disorders, or suicidality.

After completion of this module, learners will be able to:

  1. Part1: Evidence-based, disorder-specific guidelines
    1. Explain how to detect and diagnose severe conditions
    2. Use evidence-based guidelines in combination with common elements for anxiety, mood/depression, and suicide to provide targeted, frontline treatment
    3. Recognize guidelines for referral and care coordination

  2. Part2: Common elements
    1. Summarize broad-based, brief interventions for anxiety and mood/depression based on the shared features of different evidence-based treatments
    2. Discuss how to provide immediate relief and optimism

This continuing professional development (CPD) program has been designed to consider the CanMEDS Family Medicine 2017 Physician Competency Framework, including the roles of:

PTCAP: Anxiety, Mood and Suicide
